Sewer Operations & Maintenance

Until the summer of 2004, the City was divided into two service areas.  The north service area (approx. 882 acres) was covered by a 0.75 MGD BIOLAC treatment plant which was constructed in 1994.  The City's BIOLAC system was one of the first built in the area. The south service area (approx. 448 acres) was covered by a nominal 0.2 MGD aerated lagoon construction in 1986. The City recently completed a 5.4 mile, 3.9 million dollar, sewer interceptor line connecting the south service area to the north service area. The south aerated lagoon has now been decommissioned and filled.

The City recently received a Public Works Trust Fund for the design and construction of an exact duplicated of our current BIOLAC treatment system which will double the capacity. The initial design and layout of the existing BIOLAC plant planned for this future expansion, allowing for a smooth transition into this upgrade. The expansion is expected to begin construction in 2008 increasing the capacity of our plant to 1.5 MGD.

BIOLAC System Information

There are over 250 installations in the United Stated and another 350 international installations covering the full spectrum of wastewater treatment applications. Control for air distribution to the aeration chains and the basin's dissolved oxygen content provide moving waves of multiple oxic/anoxic environment.  These "zones" provide for nitrification, denitrification, and biological phosphorous removal in the patented Wave Oxidation process. Rising air from fine bubble diffusers, suspended near the bottom of the basin, create lateral displacement of the floating aeration chains. Their slow, continuous oscillation creates unique high-efficiency mixing using one third to one quarter the energy of fixed systems.

SEWER BACKUP

What should I do if I have a SEWER BACKUP
