Sweeping is accomplished by the use of one vacuum sweeper owned by the City. Sand clean-up from snow and ice control becomes a top priority once the final snowmelt occurs in early spring. Once sand removal is completed sweeper operators begin regular sweeping routes. Fall leaf cleanup is completed in areas with storm drainage problems on an as needed basis as well as areas that leaf build-up causing traffic hazards. Citizens are advised not to sweep leaves from their yards into the roadway. Another area street sweeping is utilized is when accident or material spills occur. these clean-up efforts take priority over all other assignments. Lastly the street sweeper may be used to assist in the removal of rainwater to prevent possible flooding.
